A useful patio estimate describes the whole outdoor space: the surface, how it meets the house and any cover or related work. Start with the way you want to use it before choosing the finished material.
Sketch the everyday use
Mark doors, a table or seating area, the route into the yard and anything that must remain. Rough dimensions are useful at the enquiry stage. For a cover, tell us when shade matters and where posts could interfere with the way people move.
Separate the surface from the cover
- Surface: approximate area, concrete or paver preference, current ground and any demolition.
- Connections: doors, steps, adjacent paving and drainage routes.
- Cover: footprint, roof appearance, support locations and connection to the house.
- Related work: proposed lights, fans or other items needing a separately defined scope.
Photograph the full space
Send a wide view facing the house, a view toward the yard and a close view of the existing patio edge or door transition. Mention narrow side access, buried services you know about and features you want protected.
Establish planning responsibilities
The property location and proposed work determine which local guidance applies. Begin with the Tucson-area planning resources, then identify who supplies drawings and handles any required review in the written agreement.
Compare itemized proposals
A surface-only quote is different from a covered-patio quote. Ask what preparation, disposal, materials, structural work and cleanup are included. If a cover is planned for later, mention it before the surface is finalized.
